Well done to the Glendalough & District Development Association and the community of Laragh & Glendalough as we came runner up in our population category in the Pride of Place Awards, the finals of which took place in Trim in County Meath over the weekend. This is the eighth year of the Pride of Place Competition. The GDD&A was nominated by Wicklow County Council for the all Ireland Pride of Place competition in recognition of its work in the local area and the establishment of the Brockagh Resource Centre.
Glendalough & District Development Association This year will see the Glendalough & District Development Association celebrate 18 years in existence.During its tenure the Association has overseen many projects that have enhanced and advanced the area and its environs, such as the Brockagh Resource Centre, the footpath linking Laragh and Glendalough, the Millennium monument and the Glendalough website, to name but a few.The Association exists to serve and address the needs of the community and in order to carry out its function we would like all who live in the area to express their views on the direction future development should take.

Christmas Craft Fairs
There was a great crowd and ‘buzz’ at the Christmas Craft Fair on the 13th November with plenty of people shopping for Christmas. Our last two Christmas Craft and Gift Fairs at the Brockagh Centre take place on Sunday 4th and 11th December from 11am until 4pm. There will be Carol Singing and entertainment on 4th December with Kate’s Elevation Dance School from 1.30 p.m. Santa will be making a special appearance on Sunday 11th at 12 noon. The markets showcase a wide selection of unique and affordable, handmade craft and food products many made locally, as well as lots of other Christmas gift ideas. The selection ranges from jewellery, woodturning, artwork, knitwear, glassware, leather goods, cards, decorations, books, personalised gifts and lots more. Free parking and free admission. Adult Guidance Service
The next Adult Career Guidance service is normally here on the 1st Monday of the month but as over the coming months these will fall on a bank holiday you can call Irene Hayden to arrange an appointment foranother day. Citizens Information Clinic
The Citizen’s Information Centre at the Brockagh Centre is open on 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. The next dates are Tuesday the 6th and 20th April from 10am until 12 noon for information relating to your rights and entitlements.No appointment necessary.This is a free and confidential service.
Bodhran Course for Beginners
Basic 5 week bodhran course for total beginners. Classes in Brockagh Centre. Learn how to play along to any Irish tune in just 5 lessons. Students must have their own bodhran. Cost €100 to be paid on first night. Limited places. Contact Alan 086 354 3206.
JEB Course
JEB (from EDI) Teachers Diploma in ICT will take place in September in Laragh IT in the Brockagh Resource Centre from 6-10 p.m on Monday nights for approx 6 months. JEB from EDI offers Qualifications in Education Principles and Practise, Education Practise; for those who want to teach in the IT industry. Opportunities for employment as a teacher or trainer in a college, with a training organisation or within the training department of a company. Happy Days
Happy Days Carer and Toddler group will run during the Summer months on Wed mornings from 10.30 am til noon at the Brockagh Centre.
Children’s Computer Classes
Children’s Computer Classes held in the IT Centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays 3.30-4.30pm both days. Cost is ONLY €25 for four weeks.
