Glendalough Christmas Market

This year’s Brockagh Resource Centre popular Christmas Market is on Sun, 15th of December. Santa has confirmed his arrival for the 15th of Dec and with a small entrance fee he can be visited in his grotto from 1pm. There are over 50 Stalls and entertainment from carol singers, making it the perfect place to do a spot of Christmas shopping. Stallholders will be selling homemade baking, Christmas decorations, handcrafted jewellery, pure honey, jams, selection of candles, knits, knitted toys, woodcrafts, photography, ceramics, aromatherapy jewellery, artwork,  clothes, Christmas wreaths, natural body care products, you’re guaranteed to find something special for your loved ones. With so many local makers and designers showcasing their gifts, you can tick off everything on your Christmas list all in one place and feel reassured that you’re supporting your local community. Throughout the Market, you’ll find tasty foods to satisfy any appetite. A memorable day out in a stunning setting, there’s always something new to discover at our Glendalough Christmas Market.  Parking and entry to market is free. Glendalough Country Market & Car Boot Sales       

Encouraging local and non-local producers of plants, vegetables, crafts etc. Our next event will be on Sun 8th of Dec, open from 10am to 4pm. Bargains on practically anything from household items to garden additions, vintage or antique treasure, Christmas gifts and decorations. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Violin Lessons

Violin teacher on in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Thurs from 1-2pm and Sat, 11-12pm. All types of music for beginnes to advanced levels. Lesons that will make learning the violin fun and fast. To book phone Siobhan Kelleher 087 92 82 650 or email skellehe@tcd.ie. www.myviolinteacher.org.

‘Curvy Whirlies’

Sunshine Fitness is now at the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh for ‘Curvy Whirlies’ plus-sized ladies only. This low-impact and fun exercise class will focus on strength building using a mixture of gentle movement, weights and stretching. No skinny-minnies allowed! Wicklow Willow
Our spring courses begin in February and are suitable for both beginners and improvers. All courses are full-day (9 am to 5 pm) and take place
in the Brockagh Centre. They include materials, tuition, tea/coffee and lunch (with cake)! You will make and bring home your own basket on the day.
Courses cost €85 and booking is essential (vouchers are available and make a wonderful Christmas or birthday present). A deposit of €50 is
required to ensure a place. Places are limited, so please book early to get the dates you want. Courses are available on the following dates but
extra dates may be added if there is enough demand: Saturday February 15th, Sunday February 23rd, Sunday March 1st, Wednesday March 25th and

Evening Yoga with Viva  

Viva’s yoga classes for beginners to intermediate on Tuesdays  at 7pm. in the Brockagh Centre. Improve your fitness strength and flexibility in a relaxing way. Wear comfortable clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. Booking essential you can contact Viva on 086 3409629 for more information.

Laragh and Glendalough Actively Retired Group

The group meet on Tuesday mornings at 11 am in the Brockagh Centre. If you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, chair badminton, dancing and music, come along and join in. New members are most welcome. Pilates Classes in Laragh

Pilates is on Mon at 7pm and Thurs at 10am in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Pilates strengthens core muscles, improves muscle control, flexibility, strength and tone, as well as alignment and breathing. Zara Elkinson has trained and qualified through the STOTT Pilates Method of Movement. This method combines modern theories of exercise science with spinal rehabilitation, which gives a safe and effective exercise that sees results and is accessible to all. Free Computer Course (ongoing)

A free 5-week digital skills computer course are run throughout the year, two hours one day a week. Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, photographs, podcasts, TV players, social media and much more. This course is for beginners or someone who is rarely online and wants to up skill. Call the Brockagh Resource Centre on 0404 45600 or email brockaghoffice@gmail.com.

Irish Dancing Classes

Irish Dancing held on Saturday mornings from  9am-10am in the Brockagh Resource Centre. Walking  group in the Brockagh(ongoing)

On Monday mornings weekly at 10am join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendalough area for approximately one hour. All ages and abilities are welcome. Call Lucy on 0863107511.

We Love Art

Art and crafts classes for children of primary school age take place on Monday afternoons.  Classes cover a wide range of art and craft techniques and processes, giving kids an outlet for creative self-expression while learning new skills.  Classes are small and places must be reserved in advance, the first class is free for new students. Almha Roche is a professional artist and an experienced and qualified art teacher.    The new term starts on 10th September – the first class is free for new students.  See Facebook: weloveartcrafts. Adult Art Classes

Moved now to Mon morning,  drawing and painting classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced painters.  Students choose the medium(s) with which they wish to work, and develop their interests and personal style with Almha’s advice and guidance.  If you are thinking of getting back into your art, or trying something new to explore your creative side, now is a good time!  Classes are at 11-12.30pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, commencing on September 19th. Tae kwon-Do for Youths and Adults (Ongoing)

Teens and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence. Benefits include improving confidence, respect, discipline, awareness, concentration, channeling aggression, balance, coordination, speed, reactions, fitness and health. Call Master Kenneth Wheatley on 087-2547347 for further information. Classes are on Tuesdays at 7.45-8.45pm (Seniors & Teens).

AA Meetings  (Ongoing)

Closed AA Meetings are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre at 8.30 p.m. every Monday night.

Citizen’s Information Clinic (Ongoing)

C.I.C have now an office in the Brockagh Resource Centre on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 10-12 providing valuable personal advice relating to your rights and entitlements on a large range of matters. No appointment necessary. This is a free and confidential service.  For more information go to www. citizensinformation.ie. 

Happy Days – Parent and Toddler Group

Tuesdays mornings 10.30 -12pm at the Brockagh Centre, parents, babies and toddlers get together, have lots of fun weeks with art & crafts and make new friends. It is also a great way to meet and socialize with parents, especially if you are new to the area. Contact us at 0404-45600 at the centre for more information.

Morning Yoga with Louise   

Louise’s yoga class will be held every Thursday from 10 to 11.15 am. This is a gently-paced class where students learn how to align, open and strengthen the body gradually while stabilizing the platforms of the feet and ankles, hips and pelvis and shoulder girdle. The class begins with general and targeted warm-up sequences followed by postures (Asanas) and Vinyasa (breath-connected) sequences before final relaxation in Savasana. Chair Yoga  

Our very popular Chair Yoga class will take place on Thursdays from 11.30 am to 12.45 pm. Chair Yoga is suitable for almost everyone and helps students find balance and calm in everyday life. The class takes students through centering and breath-work, followed by postures that let the joints move through their range of movement whilst seated or through use of the chair whilst standing. Laragh Badminton Club

Badminton classes are in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh with  Monday evenings: Juniors 7-8pm (1st yr secondary students), 8-9pm (5th  & 6th Class-national school) on Thurs evenings: 6.45-7.45pm(4th class national school), 7.15-8.15pm (teenagers secondary school), Adults 8-9pm. Elevation Dance School

Our Modern Dance classes focus on Jazz, Lyrical, Acro Dance, Ballet ISTD and Commercial styles as well as ISTD syllabus work giving a well-rounded understanding of the Modern Theatre style. Classes are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre every Mon, Wed and Sat for all age groups and levels.
