National Marigold Festival
This year Active Retirement Ireland Eastern Regional Marigold Festival will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre. More news on this big event will be coming shortly.

Creative Local Heritage Project
Explore the local heritage of the Glendalough Valley and develop a creative response to what you discover.
This is a skill sharing multi-disciplinary group community art project. The aim of the project is to explore the local heritage of Glendalough Valley. The project invites local residents, including young adults (over 18yrs), interest groups and other interested parties to get involved in this exciting opportunity and use their skills and knowledge, to create and design a collection of artwork for exhibition purposes. For the duration of the project, the group will examine the archaeology, history, environment, society and culture of Glendalough from a creative and artistic perspective. If you are interested in participating in this project, the Community Education Service of Kildare Wicklow Education Training Board invite you to our second meeting at the Brockagh Resource Centre on April 27th from 7 – 8pm to talk further about how you can get involved and answer any questions you have over a tea or coffee. The well-attended first evening was successful with keen interest in going forward, exploring possible project ideas. The project is based in the Brockagh Resource Centre and facilitated by local Archaeological Illustrator Aoife Patterson. Co.Wicklow Older Peoples Network AGM
The Wicklow Age Friendly Strategy 2017 -2022 is being launched at the AGM of the County Wicklow Older Person’s Council on May 26th by Minister Simon Harris. The AGM will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre, starting at 10am and finishing at 3.45.. There will be a talk from Brendan Martin, County Librarian and John Gill, Crime Prevention Officer for Wicklow. Following the talks and formalities there will be a tea dance with music by Liam Garret. Shake Up Day We invite you to the Brockagh Centre, Laragh on Thursday 8th of June for Shake-Up Day from 11am to 2pm with coffee from 10.30 and a light lunch at 1pm. This will be an energetic and sociable occasion resulting in the formation of a team to represent County Wicklow at D>C>U> on Sat 10th June from 10-5pm. Country Wicklow needs to form a new team of 9 players this year. Previous members will attest to the sociable, vigorous and full-on energetic experience enjoyed by playing at the games against 31 other county teams. Past team players turn up at the Brockagh each year & try their luck in being picked for the team again. Come along its free. Find out further details on the day. Go for Life – A Day of Games
The National Programme for Sport and Physical Activity for older people is hosting a FREE “come and try” day demonstrating the Go for Life Games on Wednesday 3rd May from 12 to 3pm (lunch included) in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh Co Wicklow. This invitation is extended to members of active retirement groups/ICA groups /mens sheds/clubs etc., anyone who would like to ‘have a go’ and join in. All welcome to take part, no previous experience necessary just enthusiasm. Traditional Basket-making Workshop
This full day traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. It will be a relaxed learning environment and you will bring home your own completed handmade small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre (9 am to 5 pm). Available dates are 30th April and 6th May. Places are limited to five participants per workshop, so be sure to book as soon as possible. Pilates at the Brockagh
Pilates will be starting on Monday the 30th January. Duration of the class is seven weeks and will start at 9.15am to 10.15 am then again at 10.30. Marie Noonan is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilitation, health and longevity. We Love Art classes on Monday afternoons are for Primary school children. They are taught by artist and qualified art teacher Almha Roche. Classes are small, and divided by age group. C.I.C have now an office in the Brockagh Resource Centre on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 10-12 providing valuable personal advice relating to your rights and entitlements on a large range of matters. Happy Days Carer and Toddler drop in group is every Wednesday mornings from 10.30 -12pm at the Brockagh Centre(they take a break in July and August). We would like to invite people with babies and young child to come for a social morning for some play, chat and of course light refreshments. Morning Yoga with Louise
Louise’s yoga class will be held every Thursday from 10 to 11.15 am. This is a gently-paced class where students learn how to align, open and strengthen the body gradually while stabilizing the platforms of the feet and ankles, hips and pelvis and shoulder girdle. The class begins with general and targeted warm-up sequences followed by postures (Asanas) and Vinyasa (breath-connected) sequences before final relaxation in Savasana. Our very popular Chair Yoga class will take place on Thursdays from 11.30 am to 12.45 pm. Chair Yoga is suitable for almost everyone and helps students find balance and calm in everyday life. The class takes students through centering and breath-work, followed by postures that let the joints move through their range of movement whilst seated or through use of the chair whilst standing. Tai Chi and QiGong
Tai Chi and QiGong classes are very powerful tools which help to heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Badminton Junior and Seniors
Badminton classes are on Mon evenings in the Brockagh Centre at 7pm (Junior 4th class up) with Seniors from 8pm and on Thursday evenings with a repeat of the same classes. Classes for 2016 will end on Monday, Dec 19th and return Monday, Jan 9th.
Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouraging creativity and imagination. Drama modules will incorporate improvisation, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills.
Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunities to take graded examinations under a fully qualified teacher. Elevation holds a 100% pass rate in IBSD examinations. Elevation Drama Junior (5.45-6.45pm) is held at the Brockagh Centre. Contact Kate on 086 8256775.
Elevation Dance School
Classes are even bigger and better this year with a huge opportunity for all of our students at Christmas.
