Temporary Road Closures – Roundwood
Please be advised that temporary road closures will be in place on the L-1059 and L-1060 roads in Roundwood from Tuesday, 4th August until Friday, 9th October 2026.
The works affect the Lough Dan Road (L-1059) leaving Roundwood village towards Lough Dan and Oldbridge, together with the L-1060 local road serving the surrounding rural area.
Important Information:
The L-1059 and L-1060 will NOT be closed at the same time, helping to minimise disruption.
Traffic management and signed diversion routes will be in place throughout the works.
Diversions:
L-1059 Closure: Via L-5057 and L-5056.
L-1060 Closure: Via L-1059 and the R755.
Reason for the works:
The closures are required to facilitate the installation of a new watermain for Uisce Éireann, an important infrastructure upgrade for the area.

We'll also explore the stories of well-known musicians whose roots lie in Wicklow's mining communities.
This welcoming event is perfect for all ages and anyone with an interest in local history, traditional music, or community arts.

The Wicklow Placenames Project 2026
The Wicklow Placenames project aims to record the minor placenames of county Wicklow and is looking for you to get involved. Minor placenames are typically not recorded on maps but are known locally and usually passed down through generations via oral tradition. These local names are steeped in local landscape, geology, history, language, folklore and customs and are a rich and unique part of our Wicklow heritage.
This project is an action of the County Wicklow Heritage Plan and is being co-ordinated on behalf of Wicklow County Council by Pat Reid, please contact Pat at info@wicklowwillow.ie if you have information to share or would like to know more.
Wicklow Town Heritage Trail
From 15th - 22nd of August, 11am - 1pm. Meet at the Fáilte Ireland Office (outside), Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow Town. A67YK82. Wicklow Town's Heritage Trail covers the town's history from the arrival of St Patrick and his monks in 432AD until the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922. With our guided trail you will enjoy spending a couple of hours rambling through our narrow streets observing our historic sights and appreciating the beauty of our coastline. Observe a Stone Carving Workshop in Action
A Mindful Making in the Wicklow Mountains on 23rd August, 11am - 3pm at The Haggart - Ballyknockan , Valleymount , Blessington. Co. Wicklow. W91YD6V. As part of Heritage Week, we’re opening the doors of our stone carving workshop in Ballyknockan on Sunday, 23 August, from 11am–3pm, inviting visitors to come and experience the craft in action.

Our regular bi-monthly workshops are two-day, hands-on courses for participants who have paid to take part, but for this special afternoon, we’re welcoming the public to drop in, watch our skilled masons as they teach, see the tools and work involved, explore what our workshops have to offer, and learn more about the rich tradition of stone carving in Ireland. Come along, meet the masons, ask questions, and get a glimpse into this unique Irish craft - tea & coffee will be available so take a cup and stay a while. WMNP Woodland Strategy-Summer Lectures
In the final lecture in this year’s summer series, we are delighted to welcome Kate Harrington to talk about Trees and Bees. Kate is an ecologist and researcher in Trinity College. She is currently working on a PhD, on the “Ecological Value and Ecosystem Services of New Native Woodland” as part of the Kinsella FOREST project. She plans to study a variety of new woodland sites that have been developed as part of the Native Woodland Scheme over the past 20 years.

Zara Elkinson has trained and qualified through the STOTT Pilates Method of Movement.
