Restoration works on R757
Restoration works have recently commenced on a historic wall along the R757 (the road leading to the Upper Lake car park).
A historic structure, the wall has collapsed in several places over the years. These repairs are being carried out under strict archaeological licence and supervision to ensure the heritage of the site is preserved.
The works are expected to last a few weeks. The road will remain open, but a traffic light system is in place to manage flow.
Thank you for your patience while we work to conserve this piece of local history.

OUTDOOR WALKING/HIKING
Fréamhú Collective - Siúlóid Eanáir
We are organising a lovely outdoor learning experience, a hike in the Wicklow Mountains where we’ll soak up some fresh air and some Gaeilge!
Inspired by the work of the late Manchán Magan, we’ll be curating some vocab related to the landscape around us. Along the way, we’ll stop to share some of these words and phrases so you can learn as we walk. We’ll also send out a few conversation starters and bits of vocabulary by email beforehand, so you can brush up and have a few phrases ready to try out with your pals (or some friendly strangers!).
This is a relaxed, fun way to immerse yourself in the language, with the bonus of some beautiful views and good company. All levels are welcome, so whether you are fluent or just getting started please join us!
All funds raised go to Hometree, an organisation that endeavours to deeply connect people with nature, and facilitates a wide variety of fundamental projects to address both Ireland’s declining biodiversity and the unfolding climate challenge.
In Glendalough, Wicklow on Saturday, Jan 24 from 9:30 am to 1pm.. Book tickets from Eventbrite - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/freamhu-collective-siuloid-eanair-tickets-1979673432528?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
