BRIGHT STARS

Parent and toddler group meet at The Brockagh Centre every Wednesday, 10:30-12:00; our weekly fee is €5.50 which includes tea/coffee/biscuit and refreshments for the children. This activity provides a welcoming and lively space for parents and children to meet and grow together.  Our activities include play, music, games, snack, tidy-up which will allow both you as the parent/guardian and your child to meet friends, explore new things and learn together.

During the year we made many friends in the group, up to 15 babies & 10/15 toddlers at different stages of growing up; we had a mother/guardian ‘Yoga’ morning, ‘Moo Music’ and our usual dance, singing along mornings at The Brockagh Centre. Thank you to the Wicklow County Childcare Committee for their continued financial support. We installed an extra changing station at the centre, upgraded new toys and supplemented extra activities during the year. Santa Clause made his annual visit today, Wednesday 17th December and had plenty of lovely gifts for our ‘Bright Stars’.  We wish to thank him for calling in at his busiest time of the year.

We wish all our parents/guardians/children a very happy and peaceful Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in 2026, from the staff at The Brockagh Resource Centre.

Our first get-together will be Wednesday, 7th January, 2026.

LARAGH ACTIVE RETIRED – 2025

The Laragh Active Retired have had a variety of events throughout the year, 2025; there was a tour to Croke Park (thanks to Marty Morrisey for all the selfies!); Newbridge Silver, several lunches in the surrounding areas, chair yoga/exercises at the Brockagh Centre, flower workshops by Jean, card making workshops by Sharon, and musical mornings as part of the weekly meetings.

Niall Kennedy and Wicklow guards gave the Active Retired a lovely morning of music, dancing with tea and scones in Wicklow. Thanks to Wicklow AR and the shops in Wicklow who gave the raffle prizes. We had talks on the photo collections of Glendalough which are in the Brockagh Resource Centre, and the history of Glendalough given by both Joan Kavanagh(s). Pat gave the history of Rathdrum and Poly (‘First Responders’) gave a highly informative presentation on CPR.

Thank you also to the Brockagh Centre for mince pies last week.

We want to thank Denise for her years of support/assistance with the group and wish her every success in her new role with Cheshire Ireland.

We would like to thank Centra Rathdrum for their donations to Laragh Active Retired and the other businesses in the local area that donated gifts for our annual raffle.

Crime Prevention talks will take place in February 2026, along with general activities, fun bingo, chair yoga, etc. Please come along to The Brockagh Resource Centre on Tuesdays, (0404-45600)- 10:45-12:15 and join our group of friendly and welcoming ladies and hopefully gentlemen, as they are in short supply!!
