Halloween Excitement in Laragh/Glendalough
Halloween fever hit Laragh last Friday, with countless delightful and wonderfully scary costumes worn by excited kids who trailed in their droves through the village. Bags of goodies were handed out to the thrill of all. While our community tries hard to be generous sometimes the well runs dry fast because of the high volume of visitors.

Our local businesses were a great support in adding to the excitement of the night. And while fireworks were nearly non-existent, our pets certainly enjoyed a peaceful evening. We are looking forward to next year!

Weaving Wicklow's Sheep & Wool Heritage into a Sustainable Future
Discover how Irish wool can power a sustainable future — film, talks & ideas to spark a new circular wool revolution. Brought to you by Wicklow Uplands Council in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Nov 5th from 8:15pm to 9:30pm in the Mountainview Room.
Join us for an inspiring audio-visual and discussion event celebrating the vital role of sheep and wool in shaping a more sustainable future. The evening will open with a specially produced audio-visual presentation that captures the story of Ireland’s sheep, their landscapes, and the potential of wool as a renewable, circular material.
Following the opening film piece - a scene setter, Hugh will share a working example from the Wicklow Uplands, demonstrating how sheep fleece is being used in restoration and conservation projects, combining traditional materials with innovative environmental practice. We will follow that with a film piece which gives hope and opportunity considerations to sheep wool. This will be then closed off by a short talk from Pat who will then explore the circular bioeconomy, highlighting the value, potential, and wide-ranging applications of Irish-grown wool.

This event aims to spark conversation and collaboration, encouraging new thinking about how Ireland’s wool industry can be revitalised as a cornerstone of rural Wicklow's livelihoods and environmental sustainability. Together, we can help reinvigorate a home-grown, circular wool economy and influence policy to support a thriving, sustainable future for our land, our farmers, and our communities.
