Laragh Christmas Lights Table Quiz
Please come and support our Christmas Lights Fundraising Table Quiz on Fri 17th of October at 9pm sharp. Help us light up the community this Christmas! Entry Fee: €40 for a team of 4. Employment Opportunity
A position is now open for gardening, planting, weeding and in general all works associated with Tidy Towns. You will be working alongside the Laragh and Glendalough Tidy Towns group. Newtown Parish Community Employment company limited by guarantee, ref #CES-2413651, 19.5hrs a week at Community Employment Programme Rates. Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21yrs or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1yr or more or 18yrs and over for certain disadvantaged groups. No experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. Hours can be flexible to suit candidate. Rathdrum Library Storytime is on Saturday 20th at 11am for 3-5 year olds and at 11.45am for 6-8 year olds.
Afterschool Programme – Relief Staff (with Potential for Permanent Position)
An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Afterschool Programme, based in roundwood village. We are seeking a reliable person to provide relief cover, with the possibility of progressing to permanent set days and hours.
Position: Relief Afterschool Assistant
Hours: 1:50 PM – 5:50 PM
Location: roundwood -based Afterschool Programme
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and engage children in a variety of afterschool activities.
• Promote a safe, caring, and stimulating environment.
• Support the social, emotional, and developmental needs of each child.
• Work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team.
Candidate Requirements:
• A genuine love for working with children.
• Strong interest in actively participating in play and creative activities.
• Ability to understand and respond to each child’s individual needs.
• Relevant childcare qualifications or experience are desirable but not essential.
Garda vetting will provided through Tulsa. This role would suit an individual who is kind, patient, and enjoys helping children learn and grow in a fun, nurturing environment.

Chair Yoga
Classes are from 11.30am to 12.30 in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.
Chair Yoga is suitable for those who find a regular yoga class too strenuous, are recovering from injury or illness or are generally less active and mobile. Louise's classes include physical poses (asana), breathing practices (pranayama) and relaxation and meditation. There is some standing work which is optional and done next to the chair.

Laragh Badminton Club
Badminton classes are back for the Autumn season on Monday Sept 8th in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Monday evenings: Adults 7.30-9.30pm. Thursdays Evenings: Juniors 4th class beginners 6-7pm, 5-6th class & 1st year secondary school 7-8pm, Teenagers 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year Secondary School Classes 8-9.30pm. There will be an open evening for adult badminton on Monday 15th of September from 7.30pm onwards.
Yoga with Louise
Vinyasa Krama Yoga (step-by-step). Classes are from 10am to 11.20 in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.
The practice will provide gentle stretching, improved strength and flexibility, as well as help students to find balance and calm in everyday life. Louise takes students through Asana, Pranayama and Meditation for a full Yoga practice.

Memory Cafe in Laragh First Gathering
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the launch last week, including Senator Pat Casey, Sheena Cunnington RGN, (cafe organiser), Frank Gordon, Communications & Events Manager at Engaging Dementia and Edward Timmins TD. It was a wonderful gathering with many more to come!
A free monthly event for people living with dementia/memory problems, family carers, friends and healthcare professionals to connect, socialise and source info.
