Glendalough Heritage Forum

We are sorry that due to significant demand for places we are no longer able to take reservations. Please contact us if you would like to join the reserve list: glendaloughheritageforum@gmail.com. However, any places that become available may not be known until close to the event.

We regret that we cannot accommodate everyone interested in participating on the community excavation but as a licensed excavation on a national monument it is important that we maintain a high level of supervision and management.

Glendalough Heritage Forum plans a number of online events for Heritage Week (https://glendalough.wicklowheritage.org/) and we will post weekly updates on the excavations on this page if you would like to follow our progress across the community excavation and the UCD Field School that follows.

We are most grateful for support provided by Wicklow County Council, The Heritage Council and University College Dublin for funding the community excavation. We hope to be able to offer places again next year and that you may be able to join us then.

For younger children Wicklow County Council will also be sponsoring The Big Dig to take place at the Glendalough Visitors Centre on Sunday 13 August as part of Heritage Week 2023 (follow https://www.heritageweek.ie/ for further details).
