Laragh Glendalough Notes Week Beg 8th July




Brockagh Country Market 14th July

Our next event is on Sunday, July 14th. Come shop indoor and outdoor with a variety of items for sale with beautiful handmade crafts and plenty of bargains and from gifts, clothes, plants, books, toys, skincare products, candles, art, tools, household items etc.  You might be a keen bargain hunter or enjoy browsing for unique gifts. Open to the public from 10am to 3pm. Tea, coffee and food snacks are available.

The barrier will be locked from 6pm Saturday evening until 8am Sunday morning. You can contact us by phone 0404 45600 (Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm) or email brockaghoffice@gmail.com. Summer Lectures at Wicklow Mountains National Park

We are delighted to announce the start of our talks over the summer of 2024. We have a wide range of talks scheduled.

Insect Hunting in Glendalough: a summer spent looking for insects in the Glendalough valley.

Parking is available free of charge at the rescue base.

These events are organised by education staff based at Wicklow Mountains National Park who are employed by the National Parks & Wildlife Service.



Taekwon-Do at Laragh

Laragh Taekwon-Do is running the fantastic ITF Kids Development Program for the 4s to 8s, it covers topics such as physical skills, mind skills, independence skills, nutrition awareness and of course Taekwon-Do Skills.  The program also has three extra modules namely Danger Awareness,  Stranger Awareness and Bullying Awareness.

We also run the full International Taekwon-Do Federation syllabus including pattern, sparring, power and special technique for our 10s upward and teenagers.

To avail of a complimentary class and experience our programs, just contact Master Wheatley on 087-2547347 for further information. Classes will stop during the month of August. Contact tutor for the return date in September.

Summer family Nature Days at Wicklow Mountains National Park

We delighted to announce that we have scheduled a series of free fun Family Fun Days over the summer. The Nature Fun Days take the form of a fact-finding treasure hunt with activities, aimed at children aged between 5 and 12 years. Family fun day HQ is in the National Park Information Office, by the Upper Lake in Glendalough, A98R221. To participate in the Nature Fun Day, drop in anytime between 11 am and 4pm. No booking required. This is a free event, although there is a parking charge at the County Council Upper Lake Car Park, A98W778.

 

Themes and dates are as follows:

3.       Oak Tree(s) 23rd July

4.       Dragonflies 30th July

5.       Squirrels 6th August

6.       Freshwater Fish 13th August

Yoga with Louise

Vinyasa Krama Yoga (step-by-step). Classes are from 10am to 11.20 in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.

The practice will provide gentle stretching, improved strength and flexibility, as well as help students to find balance and calm in everyday life.  Louise takes students through Asana, Pranayama and Meditation for a full Yoga practice.

Chair Yoga

Classes are from 11.30am to 12.30 in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.

Chair Yoga is suitable for those who find a regular yoga class too strenuous, are recovering from injury or illness or are generally less active and mobile.  Louise's classes include physical poses (asana), breathing practices (pranayama) and relaxation and meditation.  There is some standing work which is optional and done next to the chair.

Brockagh Digital Hub 

We have a mixture of Hot Desks, Dedicated (Weekly/Monthly) Desks, Pod available with High Speed Broadband Connection. Our shared working space is located in the the heart of county Wicklow with panoramic views of the stunning Glendalough Valley. Free parking, free tea/coffee facilities and lift access. To avail of the discounted rates you must pre-book your desk through brockaghhub@gmail.com only. Daily Rate €15, half day rate €10, weekly rate €60, monthly rate is also an option. We also have a special student rate of €10 day rate or half day rate €5. Register now as a Member on our connectedhubs.ie site.. We are waiting to see if they are renewing the voucher scheme. Mobile Library

Next dates are Thursday July 18th and August 1st. A mobile comes to Laragh every second Thursday from 12.15 to 12.50pm and parks at the back of Lynhams Hotel. Phone on 087 9135229 or email library@wicklowcoco.ie

For people who have difficulty accessing their nearest public library, the Mobile Library Service gives them the opportunity to avail of a public library facility. The mobile library carries approximately 2,500 items with free access to many online resources including downloadable audio books, newspapers and more.
