Food for Thought- County Wicklow Food Partnerships Symposium

Working Together for Food Security in County Wicklow — join us to share, learn, and act on food poverty solutions. The event is taking place in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, Co.Wicklow. A98 D3H1

The event is taking place on 25th September, 10:00 (Registration starts at 10:00).

This is an opportunity to turn learning into action — to build on established partnerships, ensure community voices are heard, and create a shared vision to end cycles of poverty in County Wicklow.

This route was due to start in September but the start date has been pushed back until October due to issues related to the availability of ticketing systems.

Jazz Night (Culture Night-Free Event)

Bray International Jazz Festival returns for its fourth Culture Night to the lovely St. Saviour’s Church in Rathdrum to present ‘Ebb & Flow’; saxophonist Michael Buckley’s critically acclaimed quartet.Ebb and Flow is a new and entirely original project from the Dublin bandleader and saxophonist, who is accompanied by three of the great players of contemporary Irish jazz: Greg Felton (piano), Barry Donohue (bass) and Shane O’Donovan (drums).

The group released their debut album to critical acclaim on the Livia Label in the Spring. The music is modern, tender, and exciting, featuring daring up-tempo post-bop tunes, beautiful ballads, and imaginative improvisation.

Michael Buckley is recognised as a leading Irish jazz musician, producer and band leader. A phenomenal tenor player, he is also a much in demand producer and arranger. He has collaborated and toured with The Mingus Big Band, and played with a host of international name jazz stars including Dave Liebman, Lee Konitz, John Abercrombie, Jason Moran, Jason Rebello and Joey Baron.

Recorded in 2024 at Michael Buckley’s House of Horns Studio, ‘Ebb and Flow’ the album has been described by Jazz Ireland as “a compelling collection of nine original compositions” that “exemplifies the modern Irish jazz landscape at its finest.” No booking required for this Culture Night event in St. Saviour’s Church, Rathdrum, from 8pm to 9.30pm.


Beauty and the Beast Puppet Show(Culture Night-Free Event)

Join puppeteer Julie-Rose McCormick for a fun and interactive puppet show for all the family. Expect an event filled with laughs, storytelling and plenty of entertainment. Head to Rathdrum Library from 6pm to 7pm on culture night, 19th of September. No booking required.

Yoga with Louise

Vinyasa Krama Yoga (step-by-step). Classes are from 10am to 11.20 in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.

The practice will provide gentle stretching, improved strength and flexibility, as well as help students to find balance and calm in everyday life.  Louise takes students through Asana, Pranayama and Meditation for a full Yoga practice.

Chair Yoga

Classes are from 11.30am to 12.30 in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh.

Chair Yoga is suitable for those who find a regular yoga class too strenuous, are recovering from injury or illness or are generally less active and mobile.  Louise's classes include physical poses (asana), breathing practices (pranayama) and relaxation and meditation.  There is some standing work which is optional and done next to the chair.

Laragh Badminton Club 

Badminton classes are back for the Autumn season on Monday Sept 8th in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Monday evenings: Adults 7.30-9.30pm. Thursdays Evenings: Juniors 4th class beginners 6-7pm, 5-6th class & 1st year secondary school 7-8pm, Teenagers 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year Secondary School Classes 8-9.30pm. Scrap Collection Laragh

Get rid of your scrap at the Brockagh Resource Centre on 26th, 27th and 28th of September, 2025. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE SCRAP BEFORE OR AFTER THESE DATES! Some of the items you can bring are biscuit tins, steel oil tanks, steel window frames, steel coal bunkers, car batteries, radiators, solid fuel cookers, sheep wire, bicycles, old cars without the tyres, steel wheelbarrows, golf irons, etc. STRICTLY No fridges, freezers, cookers, timber, plastics or tyres! Please do not remove scrap or metal from the premises. CAMERA IN OPERATION!
